About me

I am Lead AI Scientist at piur imaging in Vienna, Austria, where I lead a team of three AI engineers and set the AI roadmap in line with company goals. My work focuses on deep learning for medical applications, such as object tracking, thyroid and carotid segmentation, and federated learning.

My path started in research. During my PhD in computer vision at the University of Vienna, I worked on mathematical models of visual attention in videos and on algorithms for image dejittering. I then moved to industry: first video-surveillance software at KiwiSecurity, then deep learning on mobile devices at Anyline, where I improved document scanning accuracy and speed by 20% and took on project management and Scrum Master responsibilities. Since 2021 I have been at piur imaging, first as Senior Deep Learning Scientist and, since 2023, as Lead. From 2024 to 2026 I also lectured at IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems.

I am also co-inventor of a granted US patent on anonymizing textual content in image training data. The details of each role are in my biography, and my papers are on the publications page.

Away from the screen, I play guitar. It is my favourite way to switch off, and like machine learning, it rewards patient practice.
